Hajave + Burns

Grove City, PA

October 3, 2024

Ten of my favorite things from the Hajave/Burns Wedding:

Ten. Sweet and Savory Treats

I am a sucker for party snacks, and they did not disappoint. As a fun addition to the cookie table, they included various cheesecakes in strawberry swirl, oreo, chocolate chip cookie dough, and a fan favorite, peach bourbon. Then in the back, a popcorn machine, decorated and run by the fabulous team from Event Rentals of Pittsburgh. They kept fresh popcorn flowing all night and were an absolute blast to work with!

Nine. Wine

Another super fun detail that these two included in their reception was the wine bottles on each of the tables. We uncorked these right before the ceremony and allowed them to be a drink option for guests until the bar opened and throughout the night. Numerous times, I saw guests holding up the bottles and celebrating with the wine all night. The wine she chose was Snoop Dogg’s Cali Red, which I can attest to being a perfect wine for sweet and dry wine drinkers alike.

Eight. Comfy > Dressy

It’s pretty standard for there to be an outfit change at weddings now-a-days, but Sam and George expanded their chill vibe right into what they changed into. We offered to help Sam when her bustle came out, and she said it was fine that she was changing anyways. Five minutes later, out she walks with full glam hair and makeup and a super comfy sweatshirt and sweatpants with her red flip flop slippers. After spending her day in a ball gown, I’m sure the feeling of sweats was unmatched. What makes it better is the fact that I forgot to get a photo with them until the end of the night, so in the photo, she’s in her sweats, and the groom is rocking a tshirt that says “f*** it, let’s drink” – it was a total vibe.

Seven. Champagne Wall

When the ceremony ended before the bartenders arrived, we quickly had some thirsty guests. Luckily, two of them stepped up to help in the interim and filled the champagne wall glasses with smiles on their faces. We love the team players!

Six. Photobooth and Audio Guest Book

When Sam first said she hired Clicksburgh, I went down quite the rabbit hole checking out their website and was super impressed by the beautiful and unique offerings they had. Little did I know that they would later be an absolute blast to work with, matching our energy perfectly and staying positive and upbeat even during some of the stressful times. Mia was an absolute delight and I am so glad to have gotten to meet her and work with her. The gossip bench audio guestbook was super unique and made an absolute perfect addition to round out the moody vibe of the wedding, and the photobooth was busy literally all night. It was clear that Clicksburgh’s additions were a huge hit!

Five. Toasts

I’m always a fan of humor and these speeches had just that. A few of my favorite quotes were: “know that loving him will be easy, but tolerating him will be a different story” “we know you all came for the food, but we hope you will stay for the dancing” and “I want to thank most of you for joining us tonight”

Four. We Are Chant

The best man’s speech gets a bullet all of his own, due to the wonderful gift to Sam who “can’t seem to get her red vs blue right” of a Penn State shirt, which then began a wonderful We Are chant that we happily joined in on!

Three. Catered by, the groom.

When the groom owns a food truck, who else would they have cater their wedding? This food was prepped by the groom the morning of, and it was absolutely to die for. Brisket, turkey, brussel sprouts, baked beans, and my personal favorite, mac’n’cheese. We all know I’m a stickler when it comes to mac’n’cheese, but this one passed the test with flying colors. I also have to mention the multiple sauce options they offered, including the tiny bottles at each place setting that were offered as favors to the guests. If you’re in the Grove City area, keep an eye out for the S’moked truck (and bring me some, too!)

Two. Moody Vibe

Red and black are risky wedding colors, but they were pulled off FLAWLESSLY. The details were so meticulously chosen and transformed the space from a multi-purpose gym to a moody castle in just a day. The floral pieces put together by family friend, Tammy, were absolutely stunning and really brought the theme to life. I had never seen anything like this, and it will likely remain one of the most unique weddings I’ve seen.

One. Sweetheart Table

This set up was truly fit for royalty, including the backdrop, candles and candlesticks, florals from Tammy, and of course, the throne. Jeff at All About Reclaimed did a phenomenal job setting up the backdrop which not only hid the basketball hoop, but added dimension to the room, and made for a perfect statement piece. This space was such a classy addition that was super unique and made for the subject of discussion the whole weekend.

Honorable Mentions:

  • All of the ceremony song choices were 10/10 but a special shoutout to having Florence and The Machine as the recessional song! We love us some Dog Days.
  • Stevie, the needy little four-legged baby of the newlyweds who consistently made his presence known when we met bi-weekly. Stevie had a great time driving my dogs crazy and barking back and forth through the Zoom calls. Our pibs’ certainly held up end of the bargain being our guard dogs during our meetings.
  • The fact that the groom is an identical twin, which messed me up all night at the rehearsal, but was much easier when they were in different colored shirts at the wedding!
  • The nod to The Amanda Show while joking with the bridesmaids and bride about the girls room. After working full time with college students, it’s lovely when someone understands and chimes in to a good 1990s reference.
  • And last, but CERTAINLY not least was the vendor team. I could not be more grateful for the small group of us that worked together flawlessly as if we’d known each other our whole lives. A giant shoutout to Sarah from Sarah P Thomas Photography, Monique from Keystone Events Center, Mia from Clicksburgh, Tonya from Event Rentals of Pittsburgh, and Jeff from All About Reclaimed – the collaboration and assistance throughout the night and especially during teardown was such a beautiful example of a true vendor “team” and I can’t wait to work with each of them again at future events!!
