Ten of my favorite things from the Francis/Kitchen Wedding

Ten: The floral wall – Nomad Distilling had a beautiful live wall that was set up and ready to go, and Stephanie asked that we add in some faux moss and hanging florals. It turned out more beautiful than I could have imagined.

Nine: Dried Florals – Stephanie purchased a dried flower kit that she used to add dimension and color to her Welcome Sign and it was also able to be used on the cake. It was a perfect simple touch!

Eight: Father/Daughter dance turned surprise mother/daughter dance – as if this wasn’t already one of the most beautiful/tear-jerking father/daughter dances I’ve ever seen, it only made it all the better when the music faded and she surprised her mom with a mother/daughter segment as well. What a beautiful rollercoaster of emotions these dances were!

Seven: Cake Cutting – A hilarious sequence of checking in about when they would like to cut the cake led to them finally deciding to cut it at 9:30 pm. This just goes to show where their priorities were – live in the moment and enjoy it. I’ve never seen a couple be more presently in the moment at their reception.

Six: Welcome Shots – Not only was this a fun addition to welcome guests into the Cocktail Hour, but the Himalayan Sea Salt shot glasses were incredible! They made for a beautiful space for the seating charts, and some pretty great photos, as well. Am I ordering some of these shot glasses now for myself? You know I am.

Five: Lavender and Sage – A fun, biodegradable, twist on the rice throwing from traditional weddings was only made more fun by the officiant when his instructions included “underhand recommended, overhand preferred.”

Four: Flower Picking – There is almost always one thing that gets forgotten, and in this case, the bouquets were left at the Mother of the Grooms house. While there was plenty of time to run back and grab them, the groomsmen got started on a backup plan and went into the wood to start picking flowers just in case. The bouquets made it just in time, but the wildflowers would have been just as great, if you ask me!

Three: Camcorder – As we start to see an increase in digital camera usage again, I was excited when I learned that the couple chose to have a camcorder at the guest book table for everyone to leave them a message on their special day. As the night went on, I don’t think the camcorder was ever left on the table. Friends and members of the bridal party carried it around, recording anything possible and catching all kinds of little details. The night ended with Zeke walking around with it, and I imagine the footage captured was just incredible!

Two: Tattoo Artist – before the wedding weekend even begun, I knew that this would be one of my favorite parts. I had seen couples do this online, but witnessing it was so much better! The tattoo artist was busy all night long, and they even had to add some extra time to get to everyone who wanted one. It was a fun and unique favor that was a total hit! Even the groom’s grandmothers chose to get their first tattoos, and how special is it that it was at their grandson’s wedding? My favorite though was when Stephanie got the coordinates of where they met. What a perfect takeaway from your wedding to keep with you forever.

One: Drum roll please….. My absolute favorite part of this wedding was when the bride and groom stepped aside and gave the mother and father of the bride the spotlight to do a last dance to their wedding song. It was absolutely beautiful to watch, and everyone just stopped to watch them as their love lit up the dance floor. An incredibly special finale to an amazing day.

Honorable Mention: Dan from DC Entertainment who graciously spent half of the reception charging my phone at his station because the lack of service at the venue drained my battery.

This was a fabulous way to kick off our wedding season with Blue Bon and we’re so thankful to have gotten to work with such a fun couple. Steph, Zeke, and their animals have been a blast to have Zoom meetings with over the past couple of months, and their wedding was the exact party that I expected it would be. It’s always bittersweet when couples “graduate” from working with us, but I know their marriage will be just as strong and full of life as they both are. Congratulations, Stephanie and Zeke! <3
