How beautiful are these two?? 😍 Lydia and Tyler booked us in early 2024 – so you could definitely say it’s been a long time coming. They were simultaneously planning a wedding, moving into a new place, AND Tyler just finished med school last month. These three tasks on their own are stressful, but together, they overcame all three, and managed to stay relatively stress-free throughout the process. They have been such a delight to work with and we’re so grateful for the chance to assist them with such a beautiful page in their love story.
Ten. The “Easter Eggs”
Any Taylor Swift fan will notice the tiniest Swiftie details of an event, and this was no exception. The bridesmaids walked down to an instrumental version of Sweet Nothing and then Lydia entered to an instrumental of Timeless (one of my all time favorite songs) which was enough to make you sob if you knew the song. THEN in their programs read the Timeless lyric, “sometimes, there’s no proof, you just know” which based on their love story, seems pretty accurate. And of course, the bridesmaid speech included a beautiful reference of their “invisible string” love story now becoming a permanent tie. Lovely simple details incorporating her (and our..) favorite artist.
Nine. Jarvis
Jarvis, their dear kitty that was rescued from a hurricane before being adopted by Tyler and Lydia, was of course included as well. A sweet drawing on the napkins was a beautiful touch, but our favorite was that the signature drink “The Jarvis” was a Hurricane, a reference to a past life and what brought their little family together.
Eight. Number 13
While we all know the number 13 to be unlucky, apparently the medical community takes it a step further. When I was prepping the layout and seating chart, I noticed that Lydia had forgotten table 13. Upon asking her about it, she told me that skipping floor 13 or room 13 is common in hospitals due to it being known to be unlucky. Because of this, and the way the room was setup, in order for her to keep evens on one side and odds on the other, removing table 13 was her best option. I love this addition that is a nod to their careers almost as much as I love her dedication to the pattern in the layout. It really is all about those details!
Seven. I love you
While I didn’t get to personally witness this, I heard a fabulous story once the ceremony ended. Apparently the Groom’s brother has refused to say “I love you” to Lydia, regardless of the fact that she and Tyler have been together for ten years. Everytime he leaves their house, she’ll yell “Love you, Brandon” to which he replies “See ya!” but this all ended on Saturday. When he brought the rings up to them, Tyler grabbed his, and when Lydia reached for hers, Brandon made eye contact and whispered “I love you” – which is most hilarious, loving, mildly creepy thing I have ever heard. An absolute 10 out of 10 for execution – I can only hope the officiant heard him and wish I could have seen her face.
Six. Pretzel Bar
A small market order of pretzels for a late night snack sounds like a lovely addition, but when they arrived with no dips, I’ll be honest, I was confused as to how these could be THAT incredible – but man, was I wrong. Both the salted and the cinnamon sugar pretzels were to die for! Still warm, perfectly cooked, and a fabulous snack for the end of the reception. Highly recommend!
Five. Speeches
Throughout these speeches, there was not a dry eye. They were all three beautifully written, mentioning the different parts of their love story, and all three spoke on how perfect they are together. From Lydia’s two best friends noting her middle school crush on Tyler, to Tyler’s brother explaining when Lydia first came around, and of course, Lydia’s twin brother/Tyler’s best friend proclaiming that he approves of them. All speakers were getting choked up while recalling these memories, and that is a real testament to the love that surrounds these two and will continue to support them throughout this next chapter.
Four. Newspaper
Right after the programs were printed, Lydia said to me in a meeting, “Just wait until you see them!” knowing that I would absolutely melt and she was SO right. A full sized, two page, double sided newspaper with so much information and love. From furthest traveled guests to stories, fun facts, thank yous, and introductions, this program TRULY had it all. The guests loved it, all of the vendors loved it, and it served as a great addition to their big day, highlighting them as a couple and showing love for their family and friends.
Three. My Girl
As if Lydia saying “I’m going to surprise my grandfather with a special dance after our parent dances” wasn’t enough of a tearjerker, this dance was flawless. My eyes were on grandpa Ron as the announcement was made and his face lit up, and he got up and went to the dance floor like he’d been waiting for it his whole life. The dance started out traditional, but then he started twirling her, and throwing in all kinds of dance moves that made it look like they choreographed the whole thing. It was such a well put together dance, smooth, with no hiccups, and an absolutely beautiful moment for her and her grandfather.
Two. Journal Entry
Our absolute favorite detail of the program was a photo of a journal entry from middle school Lydia after meeting Tyler. It was clearly love at first site, as she mentioned how he stood out from the rest and made her blush. Including this for all of their loved ones to see was precious and a perfect example of their love – even back then, she knew.
One. Inseparable
I have heard many times of this being something that couples want at their wedding, but I have never gotten to see it happen so perfectly. There was not a single moment that we saw either of the newlyweds with the other wasn’t less than 2 feet away. They truly never left eachothers sides the entire night and I like to think that that’s the perfect metaphor for their relationship thus far. I truly believe that the support and love that these two share will help them to achieve anything, just as long as they’re together.
