Working with Meghan and Zac was an absolute blast. From our consult back at the beginning of last year, I could tell that our personalities and humor were going to click perfectly and that I’d truly enjoy working with them. Our meetings felt more like catch ups with friends than they did work. As partial planning clients, we were meeting for months before the wedding, so the first few weeks after it, it felt super weird that we weren’t meeting. Zac was always super patient with Meghan and I’s tangents (and there were MANY) and the only one in the meetings that caused any trouble was Charlie, their sweet little black cat who literally joined us every single time.

If I could relive their big day, I truly would, but unfortunately, all I can do is reminisce, so in true BBE fashion, here are ten of my favorite moments from Meghan and Zac’s wedding day.

10. The Corn Crib

French Hen Farm has no shortage of beautiful spaces, but the corn crib is such a unique feature of the venue. It added character to the landscape, served as a fabulous backdrop for the private vows, and and added even more character to an already beautiful property.

There is just something about taking an original piece of a farm and turning it into part of the wedding experience that makes the day feel extra special. It is charming, unexpected, and definitely not something you see at every wedding venue.

9. The Lottery Ticket Favors

I love a favor that guests will actually take home, and lottery tickets are such a fun one. Simple, easy, interactive, and just the right amount of “wait, what if I actually win?” (plus, they’re only $1 each!)

8. The Bride’s Bib

This is where ingenuity, practicality, and a little bit of comedy all meet. Meghan’s bridal bib that read “a bride’s gotta eat
was the absolute best multipurpose detail of the day. It was fun, protected the glam and the dress, and certainly served as a conversation piece. Not everyone can rock a bib on their wedding day – honestly, iconic.

7. The Fire and S’mores Bar

French Hen Farm already has such a cozy, relaxed feel, so adding a fire and s’mores bar was the perfect touch. It gave guests a spot to gather, hang out, and enjoy the evening in a way that felt more low-key. Plus it made for some fantastic and unique photo ops!

6. The Signature Drinks Named After Charlie, Tully, and Gloom

Meghan and Zac had not only had some yummy signature drinks, but they named them after their three kitties, Charlie, Tully, and Gloom, which automatically makes them better than generic signature cocktails. They even had custom plastic stirrers with each of them on them and each one was a different drink:

Charlie was vodka, blue curacao, lemonade, and Sprite.
Tully was vodka, cranberry, and pineapple juice.
Gloom was whiskey, bitters, simple syrup, orange, and cherry.

Pet-inspired bar menus will always be a favorite in my book.

5. The First Touch and Private Vows

Before the ceremony, Meghan and Zac shared a first touch and private vows, these are always beautiful moments, but what we loved even more was the support from the bridal party during this. The spot that they chose to do this at was super visible from the parking lot, and Meghan didn’t want any of the arriving guests to see her. The bridal party truly understood the assignment as they walked in a huddle around her to go outside, and then stood beside each other (facing the opposite direction) to form a wall blocking them so they could have their moment. This gave them the perfect level of privacy while also showing the love that these two surround themselves with.

4. The Ceremony

I am allllways a sucker for ceremonies, and theirs did not disappoint. From the beautiful space with the fountain in the background, to the absolutely gorgeous weather, it really was perfect. Two of our favorite parts were the officiant saying they “met the old-fashioned way… on Hinge,” (the exact level of humor that I love) and Meghan’s mom doing a reading which was an excerpt from a children’s book and was emotional, light, and fun.

3. The Full-Circle Feeling of the Day

My favorite part of this wedding was honestly the connection that brought us here in the first place.

Meeting Zac as a groomsman in a 2024 wedding and then getting to help plan his and Meghan’s wedding two years later was such a cool reminder of how personal this job really is. Weddings are never just one day. They are relationships, referrals, memories, and little full-circle moments that make everything feel connected.

Meghan and Zac, thank you for letting Blue Bon Events be part of your wedding day. It was such a joy to help bring everything together for you at French Hen Farm.

2. Their First Dance Song

When Meghan and Zac first told me what their first dance song was, my jaw dropped. It was the exact song that I had asked my now husband to have at ours back in 2020. We didn’t end up using it, but you can’t say that the “Can I Have This Dance” scene from high school musical 3 isn’t breathtaking. They chose a cover of this song for theirs, and watching them dance to it with all of their guests and loved ones around was a pause-worthy moment and also resulted in one of our favorite photos of the day taken by the fabulous Sarah Eickhoff at Once Like a Spark.

1. The Mother-Daughter Moment

One of the most emotional parts of the day was when Meghan honored her mom during the reception. (‘m not crying, you’re crying.) She surprised her with a slideshow of photos and a voiceover of her reading a speech to her, which made it feel super personal. Plus, as a vendor time, we collaborated perfectly to pull of the set up, projector, sound, and teardown flawlessly – it was impressive. Shoutout to French Hen Farm and DJ Q!

I always love when couples make space to honor the people who helped shape them, especially in a way that feels intentional instead of overly formal. Mothers of the bride already aren’t recognized enough, and when brides find unique ways to include them, we just melt.
